At BIO-Europe 2023, the plenary session noted that the lack of IPO action that year was a tightening financial environment driven by global economic crises. This was due to compression, which refers to competitive intensity and policies across developed markets accelerating life cycle compression where the time to 50% of sales for a marketed pharma product has decreased by two years since 2000.
